Seminyak Design Week 2018 - Design for Better Community

Seminyak Design Week 2018, hosted by Uma Seminyak, is the first design festival in Bali, Indonesia. Held at three main venues, Uma Seminyak, Seminyak Village, and Ke{M}Bali Innovation Hub, the event runs for 10 days, starting on Friday, 4 May 2018, until Sunday, 13 May 2018.


100 designers from national and international arena participated in the event, from the architect, interior designer, product designer, fashion designer, artists, and many more, to collaborate in creating innovations and the much-needed solutions to build a better business that also involves the local community.


A wide-ranging program from the exhibition, inspiring talk, workshop, design competition, and design trail were some of the main activities of the event, including hosting Satellite Event, which includes Cush-Cush Gallery, Design College Bali (STD Bali), Ong Cen Kuang workshop, VIVERE, HubBali Legian, also Kolektiv.

One of the event highlights is the Inspiring Talks program which took place at Ke{m}bali Innovation Hub on 5-6 May 2018, from 9 am – 6 pm. 22 thought leaders in business, design, and creator such as Singgih Kartono from Spedagi, Ben & Tim Fijal from TRIupcycle, and Oka Diputra from Fashion Balinesia were some of the speakers on the talks.


Exhibition and design competition are still going on during the week and you can find out more HERE. At the end of the event, Uma Seminyak will host ArchiTalks which will present 12 architects who will share their designs thoughts. This ArchiTalks event is open to the public and is free.


"Through a wide range of programs open for public we want to provide opportunities for the wider community to witness the latest achievement of works in the creative industry especially in Indonesia. This event can build awareness of the design on the community, a meeting point and discussion of the design and discourses around it, to stimulate a universal creative spirit," said Jacob Gatot as event director SeminyakDW2018 and owner of Uma Seminyak.
