These Are The Archives of Life

Deny Arivin presented his solo photography exhibition “These Are The Archives of Life” from 10 - 17 November 2018 at Maha Art Gallery, Denpasar, and it was an amazing experience to find how the past influenced your future.

Deny’s photo exposed his subjects from one to other spaces. Photo background was as much as powerful as its subjects that showed the path on the evolution of its subject.

Deny aka Tarzan, was born in Jakarta and finished his photography study at Institut Seni Indonesia, Surakarta, in 2016. Didn’t stop only on the academic knowledge of photography, he went to various cities in Indonesia to find inspirations for artistic technic in photography that he wanted.

Photography is also a way of Deny to find his own identity. One of the examples was a photoshoot archive of a woman, printed in small sizes, 15 x 10 cm, being put into a metal box. “The idea is to consider the historical facts to create a way of thinking. That the past, the archives, has relation with our future.” Said Deny.

Not only an exhibition, in this event the visitors were able to meet the artist on Artist Talk and a workshop. The event also offered a tattoo workshop, a documentary screening, and a film screening “Roda Api” by Kukuh Gancha.
